Festival Registration opens July 1st.
Full Weekend Registration, non-member: $235, member $155
A la carte registration will also open July 1st.

The Florida Storytelling Festival is a premier storytelling event, known nationally for its unique combination of workshops, concerts, youthful voices and sense of community. People come from across the state of Florida and beyond to explore and savor the art of storytelling.

The festival officially kicks-off with a special Thursday afternoon welcome reception followed by an evening storytelling concert. Friday and Saturday offer opportunities to immerse yourself in workshops, storytelling concerts, story swaps, story slams and lots of informal gatherings. Our wonderful Story Store will offer a multitude of storytelling resources.

Workshops are held in meeting rooms at Lakeside Inn.

Storytelling Concerts: These four concerts will include all of the featured storytellers. The Thursday evening and Sunday morning concerts will include tellers from the guilds and groups throughout Florida. The Saturday evening program includes the Youthful Voices Concert with the most awesome young storytellers you can imagine taking the stage.

Swapping Grounds: Friday and Saturday afternoon the microphone is open for anyone with a story to share. Sign up on-site and take the stage.

Story Slam: It’s a contest. 5-minute stories, from personal stories to folk tales, and everything in between, as long as it fits the theme. Everyone is invited to participate in a Saturday evening open mic session with cash prizes. Put your name in the “hat,” contestants are drawn at random until we run out of time. As a teller or a listener, the Slam is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

Florida Fringe: Three tellers selected by a random drawing will present their own one-person performance on Friday evening.

Front Porch Storytelling: Friday and Saturday you’ll find storytellers on the veranda, sharing tales and spinning yarns. Pull up a rocking chair and sit a spell.

Youthful Voices: Saturday workshops for young storytellers are open to all and offer a great opportunity to nurture the next generation of storytellers.

StoryCruise: The festival wraps up Sunday with a storytelling cruise around beautiful Lake Dora. Enjoy the scenery while a gifted teller shares stories to close out the weekend.

MY MOTHER’S ITALIAN, MY FATHER’S JEWISH & I’M IN THERAPY @ Mount Dora Plaza Live
Apr 4 @ 2:00 pm

Now, one of the longest running one-man shows in Broadway history!
We’ll meet: Uncle Willie, Stuttering Cousin Bob, Demented Cousin Kenny, Steve’s new therapist Cousin Sal (and Sal’s parole officer) and a myriad of astounding characters we know, love and tolerate from our own families; each one brought to life on stage by Steve using his gift for creating voices dialects & wacky sound effects that only add to the hilarity of each story.
Variety says “Steve is Alan King, Billy Crystal, a smidgen of Don Rickles and George Carlin all thrown in,” while WOR Radio calls the show “an hour and a half of laughter, hysterically funny!” Having headlined throughout the United States and Europe for over twenty years, Steve’s stories relate to the wacky side of the human condition..
Literally hundreds of thousands of people have seen this award-winning show. This is a “don’t miss” evening of hilarious comedy at its very best. Spend an evening with Steve in his quest to defend himself against those people whose sole purpose in life is to add chaos to his.
